My First Steps….
Hi, my name is Peter Beckenham and welcome to my very first blog post.
If
you want to know the REAL INSIDE STORY of what it takes to build a successful business online then follow my experiences right here on my blog.
I am determined not just to succeed but also to share my mistakes as well as my successes so you can grow right along with me. OK?
My Mentor
Just 3 weeks ago I reluctantly joined a mentor and coaching program run by Alex Jeffreys. I say reluctant because the investment in the program took the entire balance of our limited savings but something about the guy really got to me.
Alex’s passion, enthusiasm and extremely talented internet marketing skills (just Google “Alex Jeffreys” and you will see what I mean) actually made the decision easy. I had read about the need for a mentor in order to achieve success in the internet marketing world and Alex’s realistic and down-to-earth approach really bowled me over.
Who is Peter Beckenham?
To put things into perspective for you I am an Aussie, retired and together with my wife (a very patient and understanding Thai lady thank god) we live with our 2 teenage daughters in a remote and very poor village in far north-eastern Thailand.
We don’t really have the best setup to start my new internet marketing career as the power supplies are very unreliable (especially in the monsoon season), our broadband internet connection is slow and about as reliable as a $2 watch and there is no one located anywhere near us who knows anything about building a business on the internet.
If you want a practical example of what these constraints mean, it took me more than an hour and a half just to get this very first post onto my blog!
These things frustrate me for sure but only make me even more determined to succeed and if I can do it from my isolated village then for sure you can also.
So what’s my current “State of Play?”
I will be brutally honest with you here. I have made exactly $0 online, I have no subscribers at all and still a little stressed out with information overload as a result of accepting too many opportunistic internet sales offers.
This has been a big mistake of mine as it not only reduced our limited savings but usually created both confusion and frustration. Really a VITAL lesson that my coach very quickly pointed out….not look at WHAT people are trying to sell you but rather HOW they are selling to you.
By the way speaking of money today I read that every day more money is printed for the game of Monopoly than for the US Treasury? Unbelievable!
My Driving Passions
I have TWO driving passions. One is to successfully market our village Thai silk fabrics online and the other is to establish a successful internet marketing business for my family. So it’s about time I started to be a MARKETER rather than a BUILDER.
The Marketing with Alex program has already clearly “kicked my butt” and shown me that I have spent way too much time “doing stuff” that I thought was important but in fact, I should have outsourced long ago.
Free Gifts
I want to give you links to 2 FREE gifts for taking the time to read my very first post.
The first free gift is an outstanding video that will provide you with the key essentials to be a successful online marketer. Enjoy!
The second free gift is a link to probably the greatest internet marketing idea of all time. No sign-up required.
My Next Post
In my next post I will start to share some of the fantastic ideas I am learning AND applying from my coaching program plus any of the difficulties I had to overcome….especially as I am useless with technical issues. But I found a neat way around this problem.
So bookmark my blog and let’s share the journey together. I am a very big believer in “the more you give the more you get” philosophy of life.
Join My Journey by Posting a Comment
So if you are like me and just starting out with your internet marketing business then join me here right on the ground floor with my journey to success.
If there is anything at all you would like to know then please post a comment. I may be new but I am also creative and have already compiled a pretty healthy link list of great resources. Please give me your feedback as I would love to hear from you, share with you so we can grow and become a success together. How about that?

Hey Peter,
Great post mate. Was in thailand myself for a month in in 2002 on the way to Austrailia where I spent 4 years. Great country.
I am also on Alex’s training and we are all in a great position to make things happen online for ourselves.
Your blog looks great and you have a great writing style.

Hello Glyn,
Really great to get your feedback mate. I felt a little like Alex when he first puts out something new – I had no idea of what to expect as I have not had the chance to look at other peoples’ blogs. But hopefully we will have power for a few more hours today so I will definitely go and check out your site. Thanks again Glyn – made my day!

Great post and well done for getting your blog up and running.
If you’re going to be marketing Thai Silk fabrics online, with the stuff that we’re learning at the moment, you are going to dominate.
Well done for the post.
Will definately be back.

Hi Peter,
Your blog looks great! Also like the fact that you have included some free stuff to your readers, that’s a nice touch.
Well you definitely will have some challenges, especially with the power issue, but the more persistent you are than you will soon start to see things happen for you that you could’ve only imagined. Stay focused and implement what Alex is teaching and you will get there.
I’ve had to sort out all the information about internet marketing myself and it feels good now not to have an inbox with tons of email.
Good luck,
Anna

Hello Pauline, what a bummer! One of my greatest fears is my computer crashing with all the monsoon lightning and storms.
I do hope you get things back together soon. Heaven forbid if that happened to me as I have absolutely no one within 100 miles to turn to for assistance. Hang in there Pauline

Hi Peter,
Information overload is a killer for everyone. This is a simple process, but hard to do. Keep the focus on the marketing.
Keep telling your story. But, think how you can relate your story back to your reader.
Here are some examples: Does this sound like you? Do you hate your job? Would you like a new start? Don’t know how to start or even who you can trust? Get the reader engaged.
Don’t sell… Suggest, like telling a friend! This work for me, you should try it, what do you have to loose it’s free…
I hope I did confuses you,
Steven

I hope I did NOT confuse you. (See everyone makes mistake).

Hey Peter,
How are things in Thailand? (I’m in Japan right now).
It really sounds like you will make a great story once you reach your goals!
“I have TWO driving passions.” I didn’t even have to read the next sentences to know that this is exactly the kind of passion that will drive you to your goals! Good job. (I did keep reading though).
Also your blog is really clear and easy to read. Congrats!
Peace,

Hi Peter,
Great blog my friend.
Yes, Information overload is a killer for everyone. Hard to avoid but we need to keep the focus on the marketing.
Like the idea of including some free stuff to your readers. I try to do that in my blog as well.
Well you definitely will have some challenges, especially with the power issue, but I am sure you will overcome all of that. You made the right choice, in fact all of us in Alexs coaching. There is no reason to NOT to succeed.
Good luck, and keep in touch.

Hey Peter,
When I started it was information overload also for me which as a result made constantly jump after opportunities.
Like the way your post is written with honesty which is what will attract them to join your list.
We have all made the right decision by joining Alex coaching program.
Good luck mate

Hey Peter,
Your post is really inspiring, I’m sure you have been really patient for getting things up and running. I have still to catch up with my “About Me” post. Its been a slow process but a good one and this coaching is superb!
And though most of us are newbie’s, we are learning and sharing a great deal of experience and knowledge, its just amazing!
Thanks for leaving such wonderful comments on my blog post.
Cheers!

Hi Abizer,
Actually I am really trying to communicate to everyone who visits my blog that “what they see is EXACTLY what they get.”
Perhaps it’s too wordy and maybe too open but that’s me….cannot change that. If being totally honest fails to attract readers then I am in the wrong game! Best wishes Abizer and let’s enjoy the ride!

Hi Peter,
You have a real plan of action here. I can see you working the plan to make it become reality.
It’s also good to see someone who cares enough to share his profits with the people around him.

Hello Hiro,
I hope you are right…trying to keep to my plan but I am also recording whats happening in the many tasks so I can share the successes and failures….maybe a story or report can come out of this month’s activities. What I really want however, is subscribers! Thanks for the nice comments.
